💡 Welcome to the book notes template! This will help track your progress towards your reading goals, while also allowing a space for you to reflect on your reading. I personally have sometimes focused too much on having read a certain quantity of books, viewing achievement as how much I’ve read rather than savoring and reflecting on what I read. I created this template for myself for 2024 to become a more active reader and allow myself to store and reference notes and thoughts from the books I’ve read.
The template includes some guiding questions to help process your thoughts, but I would encourage you to expand and add your own details and questions as you reflect :)
💟 happy reading! 💟

Quarter 2 (April/May/June)
Quarter 3 (July/Aug/Sept)
Quarter 4 (Oct/Nov/Dec)
EXAMPLE: Q4 2023
- How do you feel about the books you’ve been reading? I’ve had a lot of highs and lows recently, and have mostly been reading non-fiction. I like non-fiction, but I’m not having much variety.
- What kinds of books do you want to read next quarter? Definitely a bigger mix of books! I also am not excited about the ✨seasonal depression✨ that awaits me next quarter, so I want to set more time aside to read physical books that feel cozy or nostalgic! I also want to start getting back into foreign lang books in Spanish & Italian to get some more practice in.
- Must reads for next quarter!
- reread Perks of Being a Wallflower or The Hunger Games Series for the nostalgia
- Babel by RF Kuang
- The Secret History (I wanted to read this during fall, but winter also gives dark academia vibes so I’m excited for this one! I hear great things!)
- How do you feel about your approach to reading? Do you want to change your approach next quarter (and if so, why/how)? I’ve also been listening to a lot of audiobooks this year, which is great, but I’d like to set aside more time to read physical books. It’s a nice activity to do when it gets dark at like 5pm! And I’d like to try to be more diligent about incorporating reading into my routine.
